I have experienced many changes in my life and the one constant thread has always been my artwork. I worked with oil colors for many years and loved every minute. I began experimenting with acrylic paints after moving to Ventura, CA in 1995. The transition has opened a whole new world of creative opportunities for me with mixed media and collage. I really like textures and use heavy palette knife work and handmade oriental papers that appear in my mixed media designs. The inspirations for the paintings start with photographs taken on locations that I have found interesting. The paintings start from an image then the creative process takes over and from there it is intuition, and emotional responses that complete the painting. One collage came from a unique design left by mineral deposits exposed after excavation had been done on the road up to Lake Isabella or an abstract design that came from an interesting rock formation. I take inspiration from the old Victorian style homes that seem to have many stories to tell and the farms that hold so much history as to our life here in Ventura. The coastline & sunsets here are just waiting to be painted. I am completely at peace when I am creating a new painting and feel people will respond to my work in kind. This is just another way for me to connect and share a very important part of me with other people. Enjoy the journey with me.
